Unless you’ve found yourself living under a rock for the past 10 years, you’ve probably seen the Western world’s (well, mainly the USA’s) mild obsession with all things pumpkin, sweet potato and butternut squash at this time of year. As we’re approaching the peak of Pumpkin Spice Latte season, I thought I’d give you a round up of all my favourite pumpkin recipes (which can be swapped for sweet-potato or squash if you can’t find pumpkin).
These recipes are all a little different from the usual basic pumpkin pies and casseroles we see from across the pond, but they are all wonderfully delicious and suitable for Autumn/Fall! So whether you have a whole heap of pumpkin pulp leftover from carving, or you’re sticking to the good old tinned kind, why not try some for yourself?
Ok, so they’re delicious and warming but they’re also expensive and you can get them on every corner of everywhere, but who needs Starbucks? Make your own PSL that’s healthier, tastier and much less basic!
Sally is one of my biggest inspirations, her blog is flawless and her recipes always work. These pumpkin spice truffles are so cute and different, they’re easy to make and perfect for whipping up ahead of time too! Cream cheese, pumpkin, spices and white chocolate all in one mouthful? Uh, I’ll have 10 please.
Hey, fancy that, my own recipe! Wholemeal pastry and smooth, spiced pumpkin custard filling, mmmmm. I know everyone in the USA probably has a favourite pumpkin pie recipe, but they’re not all that common over here in the UK. So if you’d like to make a tasty and easy version with less sugar and fat than a traditional American variety, this is the best place to start!
If you’ve ever visited the USA, you probably know about the Cheesecake Factory! We sadly don’t have an equivalent here, so why not make your own? This pumpkin cheesecake is smooth, creamy and has that classic baked cheesecake texture, just with added Autumn flavour.
Everything about this recipe makes my mouth-water, spiced cake layers, spread with cinnamon and pumpkin cream cheese frosting? Sign me up!
Hey, me again! Sorry, but really what did you expect? These pumpkin cheesecake blondies are so weird and wonderful. A soft spiced pumpkin blondie base with a sweet and creamy cheesecake swirl, these will satisfy every sweet Autumn craving you can possibly have, and they can be made surprisingly healthy too!
Can someone just shovel this into my mouth please? Thanks. If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, this is your kinda pumpkin recipe. Pasta tossed with healthy and delicious Autumn flavours, this recipe looks genius and utterly delicious.
Hold the phone. What?? Mac and cheese is sexy, but adding gruyere, goat’s cheese and seasonal pumpkin makes this mac and cheese an absolute MUST for cheese-lovers this season! Seriously, why are we even considering anything else for dinner??
Everything this man cooks makes me hungry. This soup is no different, with some delicious spices involved, this healthy soup is a perfect and simple dinner idea with SO much flavour!
I couldn’t round off a post without a little bit more Maverick Baking (#sorrynotsorry)! This pumpkin bread is a family favourite, cosy pumpkin and spices nestled into a soft sweet loaf cake that’s definitely better than Starbucks. So cheap and simple to make too! It’s the same recipe I use for banana bread, so all you root vegetable sceptics can enjoy it too!
