Rich and chocolatey but light as a feather, these ridiculously simple two ingredient Nutella brownies are cheap, speedy and satisfying!
Ok guys, this is it, this is officially the most easy recipe ever.
Yes you read that correctly, these brownies have not ten, not five, but two ingredients. How does that work? I don’t even know.
I’d seen a few “two ingredient” recipes floating around and I’m always skeptical of how they would turn out and most importantly how they would taste considering there’s often no flour, butter or sugar added to them. However, when I stumbled across a two ingredient Nutella Brownie recipe in the wonderful Nigella Lawson’s new book, Simply Nigella, I knew that it was worth trying.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Mrs Lawson at her Edinburgh book signing, please excuse my short stature and embarrassingly excited expression.
I generally trust Nigella’s judgment on food and I love the new book, I’ve never been a fan of fiddly recipes so I found Simply Nigella to be perfect for me. I’m really looking forward to cooking the savoury recipes, but I knew I just had to try out these brownies first.
On my first bake I was impressed with how quickly they came together and was even more impressed when they didn’t taste like a square of chocolate flavoured scrambled eggs, which I had every fear they might!
The brownies are unbelievably light, and have just the right amount of rich chocolateyness without being sickly like some regular brownies can be. Naturally, on my second bake I added more Nutella – something which I think you’ll agree is never a bad idea – and was delighted with the turnout. So here is the recipe in all its glory, Nigella’s Two Ingredient Nutella Brownies with a Maverick tweak or two!
Preheat your oven and grease/line a 20cm square cake tin.
Crack the eggs into a large bowl and use an electric whisk to mix them on a high speed until they are pale, fluffy and at least doubled in volume.
Measure out your Nutella into a bowl or jug and melt it in the microwave or by sitting the bowl/jug in some warm water for about a minute or until the Nutella is runny and smooth.
Pour the melted Nutella into the eggs, whisking at the same time until it is fully incorporated.
Pour the mixture into your prepared tin and bake it in the preheated oven until set and firm on top.
Slice into 12-16 squares, dust with some icing sugar to sex them up even further and start stuffing your face!
These two ingredient Nutella brownies are a great everyday bake, they aren’t fiddly, they don’t take a lot of time or effort and they don’t require any fancy or expensive ingredients either. I really hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
