Hi! Hope you’re doing well and 2024 is treating you right so far. If the blog making wheels are still turning and you have some time on your hands, I really recommend a certain recipe I think truly would be a lovely addition to the Desserts of the World series. It’s called Dobos Torta- it’s Hungarian and as a self taught baker religiously following Maverick Baking- almost obsessively some would say- I believe it would be very suitable to many readers’ palates if not just my own 🙂 I hate to be that one in the comments section that just rambles on and on, so if it isn’t exactly short, I certainly hope it is sweet.
Thanks!
Hey hope alls well,
What is the recipe used for the carrot, lentil and potato soup in your recent YouTube short?
Many thanks
Iwould like to see La Tarta de Queso”,(cheesecake), from la Vina, from San Sebastian, Spain, choosen the best from 2 years ago in the New York Times.
I’m interested in simple ideas for a scaled down Burns Supper for my boyfriend who is from your hometown. We live in Colorado US and own a whisky distillery. His birthday is all January 25 and I’d love some ideas.
Thank you so much,
Katherine
Hi Katherine, thanks for your comment. Typically, Burns Suppers are the same every year in most of Scotland!
If you were having three courses, traditionally you’d have:
1: Soup, or pate
2: Haggis, neeps, tatties, and some kind of gravy or whisky sauce
3: Sticky toffee pudding, or Cranachan
For example, a great menu in my view would be:
1: Leek and potato soup
2: Haggis, neeps, tatties, and creamy whisky sauce
3: Cranachan with a good splash of whisky
They are not hugely common in Aberdeen as Burns was from further south in Scotland but they do happen in some hotels and restaurants, especially touristy ones. As long as whisky and the haggis/neeps/tatties are present, it should be just fine!
